If you find yourself eating out for lunch a lot, you may feel like you are spending a lot of money. Luckily a trip to the grocery store may be a cheaper, and also healthier alternative. Below you will find popular options for lunchtime at the grocery store.

“Adult Lunchables”

One option for a quick and easy grocery store lunch is to create a charcuterie board or “adult Lunchable” using a variety of different items. You will likely want to include some sort of protein using deli meat or pre-cooked chicken, healthy fat to keep you full such as cheese, avocado or nuts and then something salty and/or sweet to round out the palate.

The great part about creating something like this for your lunch is that you will have enough to last you several days and each day could have a slightly different combination of items.

Prepared Food

Another option at many grocery stores is to get already prepared food off of hot food displays or salad bars. Hot food bars typically include options such as pizza, Asain cuisine, and even healthier options such as grilled chicken and rice. For a lighter lunch, you may want to consider the selection of soups and chilis or the salad bar. The salad bars are great as a meal itself or to add an easy side of fruits and veggies to another main meal.

Another easy option for lunch is to visit the deli counter at your store. Most often, deli counters will offer the option to create customized sandwiches. In addition, you can order singer serving amounts of sides such as pasta salad, potato salad, or broccoli salad to go with your sandwich.
