Tips for Finding the Right Rehabilitation Facilitation

Substance abuse disorder has a way of taking over your life swiftly and voraciously. If you don’t take action at the soonest possible time, you might wake up one day all alone, with no family or friends by your side, and in the worst possible shape, you can be in.

That’s a very gloomy picture to paint, but it is also a very accurate one, especially when you are dealing with substance abuse. With so many treatments available, and rehabilitation facilities offering a variety of services to cater to your rehabilitation needs, the only thing left for you to do is show up and complete the program.

There are so many things to look forward to once you get better, but before that, you should find yourself the right rehabilitation facility first. If you’re ready to take the first step back to wellness, here are some helpful tips so you can find the right facility for your needs.

Inpatient vs Outpatient

Most facilities would have a mix of both types of treatments. The main difference between inpatient and outpatient treatment programs is where the patient stays. In an inpatient program, the patient stays within the facility for a prescribed time, which can last anywhere from a few short days to several weeks or months, and sometimes, even a full year.

An outpatient program, on the other hand, allows the patient to go home to their own place and carry on with their daily life, including going to work or school, and taking care of the family. The sessions are also slated in time slots that are going to be more feasible for the patient, considering their daily schedule. Attendance to the program is a must, though, otherwise, they might miss any progress they’ve already made.

Treatment Programs

There are various treatment plans that can be used to help the patient get over their substance addiction. There are medically assisted detoxification processes, individual therapy sessions, and group counseling sessions.

What kind of program will be prescribed to the patient will ultimately depend on the initial assessment and evaluation made by the doctors upon their first arrival to the facility. This may be adjusted later on, however, depending on the progress made.

The facility should be trained to deal with patients who may not be as receptive to the treatment plan. It may take longer, for example, for some people to join the Group Counseling sessions because of resistance, and so they will work on improving that first before trying it out again. The point is that although there may be general procedures, they are going to be applied according to the needs of the patient.

Facilities

This is particularly important if you’re thinking of entering rehab as an inpatient. Of course, there are plenty of benefits to staying within the facility, including being able to focus on your personal wellness, and away from the everyday affairs that may distract you from your treatment plan.

That said, you need to see if the facilities have the basics, at the very least. They might have shared bedrooms, but it’s also possible to have your own room, and again depending on their assessment of your condition and situation.

The treatment and sessions rooms, recreation rooms, dining area, and guest receiving area are all pretty standard. It doesn’t have to be fancy, though, although having a well-kept facility can certainly help in improving a patient’s progress.
